Helping Team Maunga iti and Team Maunga

 Hello everyone,

Last week my class went on a trip for a whole week. They called the trip, The Ski Trip. They were going on a trip to Mt Ruapehu to go skiing. I didn't go because it was too expensive. You had to pay 300 dollars to go, so I didn't go. With everyone in my class gone, the only people that didn't go were two boys and one girl, their names were Shiah, Anderw J and Cruz.

 On the first day, I found out that I was helping in two classes called Team Maunga iti and Team Maunga. They were the class rooms that have the 5, 6 and 7 year old's. I mostly had to help the 5 year old's ( Team Maunga iti ). I helped them with their art, reading, writing, number counting and sounding out. From then on I felt like a teacher aid. I felt like I was the boss. Then on Friday, to help me and the teacher I had an extra helper, Cruz. She is very good at art. The week was very fun but a little challanging but it was still fun. I hoped you liked my week story.

My rocket trip to the moon

Hello,

Today I just finished doing my rocket trip story. The learning behind the task is to find out where each explanation mark and apostrophe goes. I had to place a flag on top of the moon. I had a partner with me so it would be faster to land on the moon. When we arrived at the moon we felt so good and well. I did my story in my book for a draft, then I did it on my real copy. What I found hard was getting the draft writing and re-writing it on my chrome book. What I found easy was writing my story in my book. I did it on a google slide. You can see my slide below.

Matariki Myth

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago my class and I did a Matariki myth. I wanted to put a little bit of Maori in my myth. We all had to make our myths up. I also wanted to make my myth based on Papatuanuku and Rangi's separation. I wanted it to be sad and scary at the same time. Finally, when I finished my myth I re-read it so it was perfected. What I found hard was figuring out what it should be based on.  What I found easy was writing down how the Matariki sisters went into the sky. You can now see my work below.

Tortoise / Turtles differences and similarities

Hello everyone,

I have done a differences and similarities doc based on tortoises and turtles. At first I thought that it will be impossible for me to do this doc, but after reading what my teacher has set up for me I completely fell right into my piece of work. I have filled in  
all of my boxes of what is different and what is the same about them. I enjoyed this activity because it is so fun and enjoyable. What I found hard was reading the article and finding what is the differences and what is the same about the two animals ( tortoises and turtles ). I have put my doc on this blog post I hope you like it. 

My ambition for 2020

This year I am a year 5 at Ohaeawai Primary.
I have enjoyed trying to make and be a good example for the juniors and the school.
My favourite thing that has happened is helping out other people when they feel sad, hurt or getting angry with other people.
My least favourite thing is not being there when something really bad is happening and other people are not there to help them.

Next year I am a year 6. My goal for 2020 is to help pick up rubbish and if it goes in farmer's paddock we won't do cross country and I want to keep the school green.
I want to do something to help others, make the school green, to be the I can be and to be a good person to others to be a young leader.
My learning so far has been really fun for me but I will always finish something hard. I will be caring and reliable in the classroom to be the best I can be, to show that I am a really good supporter and that I am trustworthy so I can give a message or get anything from the printer.

Golden Leaves

On Wednesday we went for a walk around the school to find a golden tree. When we found the golden tree we had a leave fight! It was so much fun. Then we saw some green leaves in the tree as well. I thought that the tree had golden leaves. Then Mrs Fletcher said, " Do you think that the green leaves will go gold?". Most of us said yes and some of us said no. Now here is my Golden Leaves poem ......

The living world

Hello, This my slideshow. For the next five or six weeks we will choosing our own activities to learn about the living world. We did multiple intelligences test to see what kind of learner we were. My top three ways of learning  intelligences are;

1. Naturalist
2. Musical
3. Visual
I am look forward to learning about The living world.

Earth Worms

Last week we did a slide about earthworms. We have been learning about this thing called digging deeper to write more complex sentences. Here are my sentences -




1. Earthworms would go the dark side than the light side.

2. Earthworms like to go in nice and moist soil than normal dirt.

3. Earthworms can breath under water so they can stay away from the birds so they can't be eaten.

I liked doing this earthworm thing because I have learn't new things that I have not heard before and learning new things about earthworms.

Fishbone

We have been learning how to write explanations and also

doing research about the living world so our teachers gave us this writing task. We learned what a fishbone diagram is and how to use a completed one to make our own using a life form of our choice. We had to organise the fact boxes by using MRS GREN which is an acronym which reminds you about what life forms do. Here is mine. I chose to write about:

What I liked about this task: I liked writing the facts about the clown fish.

What was easy: Finding the facts.

Christmas tree

We were sketching a Christmas tree. We needed to write some ideas that came to our heads. Then we wrote it down on our chrome book and made a poem and put our sketching tree on the writing.

This week we have been doing Environmental writing. We had to sketch a kauri tree that we had to write a peom about a kauri tree.

Animal Town

This week we have used another picture as motivation for our writing.
We had a story starter and then we had to carry on the story.

What I like about my writing is my animals.

Hi I am a cheetah that lives in Animal Town. Today was a very weird day because a family came to Animal Town and they had a little girl called Heidi. “Calling all animals please came to the king and queen, thank you.” screeched a bird. “Uh oh! Is it something bad king Lion?” I asked. “Yes it is something bad because a new family has come to Animal Town and that means we need to battle.” replied the lion. “But what if they have guns or something that we don’t?” asked the monkey. “Well do you know what we have that they don’t?” King lion said. “No what?” “Sharp teeth and you and your family have speed and sharp teeth then you and your family can go second, okay.”
