Hello,
For the past few days we have been learning again about planet earth and beyond. We made our own question that we wanted to find out and research on. The learning behind this task was to find the answer to a wondering of our own, I had about planet earth and beyond. My wondering question was: Why do planets orbit around the sun? So that was my focus. I really enjoyed working with others. I need to work on doing it independently. I have learnt: That orbit means going around an object or a star, and that the sun is a star not a planet.Wednesday, 3 July 2019

Golden Leaves
Hello bloggers,
On Wednesday we went for a walk around the school to find a golden tree. When we found the golden tree we had a leave fight! It was so much fun. Then we saw some green leaves in the tree as well. I thought that the tree had golden leaves. Then Mrs Fletcher said, " Do you think that the green leaves will go gold?". Most of us said yes and some of us said no. Now here is my Golden Leaves poem ......

Is Earth like a hard - boiled egg?
We are learning about what the Earth is like on the outside and the inside. We used hard-boiled eggs as mini-models for the earth. We got to design our own continents and islands on the outside of the egg shell. At the end of the experiment we got to eat the egg!
Here is a link to the science experiment report we wrote with the teacher at the end of our experiment

Structure of the Earth
Hello,
We are learning about the structure of the Earth.
I learnt that the Earth is made up of 4 layers. They are:
Facts about each layer:
Crust - Is what we are standing on. The crust is the 1st layer on Earth. Now if you keep on
digging 40kms you can't reacth the mantle because it will get too hot for you to even touch
the Mantle.

the Mantle.
Mantle - The Mantle is the 2nd layer on Earth. The Mantle is made out of rock but because
the Mantle is so hot the rocks melt then it gets all squishy and it's like liquid.

Outer Core - The outer core is liquid metal - also mostly Iron and Nickel. The outer core is
4000 - 6000 OC. It is totally liquid.
Inner Core - The very centre of the Earth is the inner core, which is mostly Iron and Nickel.

Inner Core - The very centre of the Earth is the inner core, which is mostly Iron and Nickel.
The inner core is solid because of the pressure pushing down on it from the layers above.
Our group - Ariana, Me and Teziah
First we created a 3D image of the earth using clay and paint.
We then cut the shape in half to show the different layers. After waiting for it to dry, we identified
each layer by painting them in different colours.

Mixed ability Maths
Mixed ability Maths
Hello bloggers,
This term we have been doing a different sort of maths. Mixed ability Maths. We also have a mixed- ability maths group so we can work together and solve the maths problem together. We also get to write what you think the answer is and you need to show the others in our group how you can work it out. We can see and learn the other person's strategies and see if they got their answer right.
I think that mixed ability is a very good way for us to work our maths problems. If somebody in your group needs help to work the problem out you don't need to stand up and go and waste their time while they are waiting for you to and help them if you are helping someone else to work out there problem too. Now the person next to you can help you out with the problem.
I feel like mixed ability maths is really good for your brain because you can get better, and better, and better, until you get to a high school level.
I enjoy it because it is a lot of fun and it keeps our brains working and gets our maths to a new level.

Hayley's Maths Understanding
Hello bloggers,
This week, we have been making a Google Drawing to show our maths. On the first day that we did this we had to finish three maths problems but some people did all of the maths problems and Miss D was very happy with them. Here is my slideshow.

The living world
Hello, This my slideshow. For the next five or six weeks we will choosing our own activities to learn about the living world. We did multiple intelligences test to see what kind of learner we were. My top three ways of learning intelligences are;
1. Naturalist
2. Musical
3. Visual
I am look forward to learning about The living world.
